Malena Grosz joined Keen Independent as a Consultant to support marketing strategy, arts and cultural planning and community engagement. Her experience includes event production, graphic design, website management and program management. As a performing and installation artist, she understands the challenges that artists face, particularly at the grassroots level. As a community organizer, Ms. Grosz believes that the arts are our most powerful tool for uniting people and impacting positive change in our communities.
Ms. Grosz previously served as the Marketing Director for the Flagstaff Arts Council to develop and execute marketing strategy for more than 12 public programs while also serving on the board to review art and science grants, awarding more than $250,000 annually.
At Arizona State University, Malena led the program management and strategic planning for CounterAct, an arts-based sexual violence prevention program and co-founded the DBR Lab, a program to support professional development for student performing artists.
Malena is a creative facilitator for focus groups, community conversations and participatory workshops. She engages primarily with artists and college-age youth, tackling tough conversations like consent communication and healthy party culture. She also conducts interviews with event producers, artists and venue managers across the country for her podcast, the Party Pro Toolkit.
Since 2008, Malena Grosz has been engaging communities in Arizona through creative projects and events where she works with artists of all disciplines and venues of all sizes. She has produced events at prominent venues such as ASU Gammage, Mesa Arts Center and Desert Botanical Gardens.
From Arizona State University (ASU), Ms. Grosz earned a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre (Arts Entrepreneurship and Management) along with a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management. Malena received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication (Graphic Design) from Northern Arizona University.
